Suggestions

After reviewing the article “Morgellons disease, illuminating an undefined illness: a case series”, two thoughts come to mind:

  1. Those wanting to better understand this condition (both sufferers and medical professionals) could benefit from collaboration, and
  2. A team of parasitologists as well as toxicologists could add interpretive insight by reviewing MD data.

Sharing

There is nothing easy about this condition. It is mysterious, terrifying and destroys the quality of one’s life. No matter the parameters which one looks at Morgellons, as a recent phenomena or as something that has been around for centuries, it has baffled the medical profession. The condition leaves the patient with few answers and the medical professionals, I suspect, frustrated.

I know firsthand that sharing anything related to this condition often leaves you as a target or, worse, feeling unheard. The mix of sufferers and medical researchers makes for a complicated audience. Often when posting my thoughts online, I clarify with, “I’m not a medical professional”; it makes sense that for the sufferer the professional voice has more validity than the nonprofessional. Still, when answers are few, any voice is better than none.

Sometimes misguided anger comes out. I once posted some critical comments towards several medical researchers (and afterwards regretted it). “We all have five fingers” was once a Navajo elder’s way of telling me- we’re all human. We’re all capable of great good but also make mistakes.

I wonder how we could better share between sufferers and medical professionals. I have seen some attempts at online surveys…maybe this could be expanded. Another possibility is a question/answer session with noted professionals working on the Morgellons condition (maybe a monthly or weekly response from various professionals). The voices of the sufferers as well as professionals need to be heard in expansion of collaborative, productive communication.

Given all the challenges, it is still absolutely essential that communication be open and healthy itself. Being able to have a voice and listen to others benefits everyone. Mr. Common Sense recently expressed gratitude for Mary Leitao’s efforts and I second that; she is the reason so many have been able to connect.

Further professional review

Among the sufferers, there appears to be three major schools of thought on the cause of this condition. Many believe it is parasitic, some believe it is a mix of parasitic and toxins, and some believe (as I do) it is the result of toxins.

While the research team that implemented and published this important study have impressive medical backgrounds, I feel more light could be shed on data interpretation with a formal review by a team of parasitologists as well as a team of toxicologist (in fact I think this should happen for any studies with complex MD data sets). While I’m not a medical professional (please remember that), I do think that some of the data patterning such as all having high resting pulse, high miscarriage rate, and some with chronic inflammatory diseases could be interpreted as relating to mercury.

The study was designed to define Morgellons and differentiate between Morgellons and DOP. I think it has better defined Morgellons. The distinction between MD and DOP remains muddy. If it is found that MD is parasitic in nature then the symptoms are parasitic symptoms. If it is found to be the result of toxins, I propose the term Pseudo Parasitic Symptoms (PPS).

In short

The study presented in “Morgellons disease, illuminating an undefined illness: a case series may provide further insight with additional review of data, both published and unpublished, by parasitologist and toxicologist. While I am not a medical professional (just had to say it one last time), I hope the medical community will be open to suggestions from those who have or had these symptoms.

From Mr. Common Sense

This was submitted by Joseph Keleher who, as far as I am concerned, wrote the quintessential "History of Morgellons Disease" which you can find by clicking on the following link, Morgellons/ Mercury Article. I agree completely with Joe on this post regarding collaboration only he says it with more elegance than could I. As an aside comment Joe stated to me that Heart Palpitations (I just had a very scary bout with them) can be a sign of Mercury poisoning. I Googled it, and indeed, it sure is. Thank you Joe, I’m sure folks will look forward to more of your writing. If the link to “Morgellons disease, illuminating an undefined illness: a case series” doesn’t come up right away, wait 4 or 5 seconds and it will.

I try not to take any of this personal; however, I am personally offended by the definition DOP and the association with Morgellons. I know Morgellons is not in any medical journal (prior) and I realize that doctors do not understand it. I am incredulous that most of them seem to shun it instead of taking it on as a challenge. Since this is such a complicated disease and not a lot has been scientifically proven, why not think outside the box? Who knows more about your body than you? Your best defense is knowledge! It is outrageous that most doctors are quick to label without listening to their patients. They treat the symptoms. This type of mistreatment only throws fuel on the fire. Maybe now is the time to consider live blood samples and the usage of Darkfield Microscopy. Nearly every naturopath and many medical doctors in Europe use darkfield routinely. All the parasites can be identified. Samples can be visibly displayed. The effects of various treatments can be easily seen.
    It’s all about the terrain.
“Many believe it is parasitic, some believe it is a mix of parasitic and toxins, and some believe (as I do) it is the result of toxins.” This reminds me of the causality dilemma of which came first, the chicken or the egg? Parasites secrete toxins. The consequence of this phenomenon is claimed to be its root cause. Perhaps in the case of Morgellons, the cause and the result are the same. This may be a mombo combo! Is the parasite the cause? Is the toxin the cause? Is the parasite a vector infected by a toxin? Parasites and worms can invade our bodies through food and water intake, through transmitting agents (like mites), sexual conduct or through the nose and skin. Is our food and water so polluted with toxins and parasites? Do toxins in the air we breathe and the earth from where we grow our produce, and get our water supply, cause our plants and animals to become toxic? We breathe the polluted air, drink the contaminated water, and eat the toxic animals. No wonder we are parasitic. Are we so tainted that our internal bacteria have morphed into parasitical forms? (See pleomorphism)
Humans are becoming one of the most polluted species on the planet
    Here are some statistics:
The average American now carries a “body burden” of 700 or more synthetic chemicals, including Teflon, plastics, and dozens of pesticides.
    • A 2005 study of lactating women in eighteen US states found perchlorate (a toxic component of rocket fuel) in practically every mother’s breast milk.
    • Musk fragrances used in detergents and air fresheners are not filtered out by our current water treatment facilities, ending up in our drinking water.
    • The artificial sweetener aspartame, an ingredient in 1,200 food products from diet drinks to chewing gum, has been linked to eighty-eight toxic symptoms.”
The question is: what toxin is dominant? Which one/ones when added to our already polluted biological terrains really sets things off?

Fragrance Oils are also toxic, for 40 years since we have become an industrialized nation we have been putting fragrance oils in perfumes, fabric softeners, room sprays, deodorants and clothes washing detergents. The colors in our rugs are laced with formaldehyde to help them retain color. Pesticides are laced with chemicals that are causing NEUROTOXICITY. A recent article in Natural News says that “DEET” is a Neurotoxin.
Scientists in the EU are concerned that Sunscreens are causing Alzheimers due to the Nanos and heavy metals in them.
Our Society is TOXIC, no wonder these people are electric. They are heavy metal overloaded.
From Womb to Tomb the human body absorbs, inhales and ingests toxins in the sprays they use, the foods they eat and the water they drink.

OUR skin care is full of nanos and Fragrance Oils (up to 1,000 undeclared chemicals…trade secrets) and in the name of beauty we slather on chemicals laced with propyls (remember Hulda Clark) said propyls; isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol, mineral oils and petroleum jelly must be removed from the home and from skin care.

Look at the second ingredient in most skin care MINERAL OIL without a mineral in it is sold by the droves in CHEAP plastic packaging. OUR topicals in this country including Topical Drugs are put in leeching plastic tubes and based in cheap fillers and the Drug Companies are charging a FORTUNE for a small tube of a cheap topical treatment.

The Chemicals in the Workplace are hasadarous, look at the Hospitals and the chemicals that our health care practicioners are exposed to on a daily basis. Neurotoxic Triclosans in had washing soap, that strip the skin. The dispensers in the hallways with toxic disinfectants are stripping the skin of the needed proteins to protect the largest organ of the body….the skin, but they are doing far more damage than this, they are creating more toxic body burden.

Even trace amounts (nano to pico) one million millionths to one billion billonths of Endocrine Disruptors are leeched into the body causing: agressive behavior in children, ADD, ADHD, lowered sperm counts, Cancers, increased sexual maturity at young ages and are even responsible for Sexual Orientation. This is even passed on from Mothers to babies at birth.

Senate Bill 484 was won in the state of Calif by a marginal vote and signed into Law on this very issue. Plastic Bags are being taken down in San Francisco and not allowed due to the dangers and leeching into our ecosystem.

The Human Bodies of all Humans are Endocrine Disrupted and if you mess with the endocrine system and deplete the thyroid or any gland it is going to mess and reak havoc with any of the other glands and organs of the human body.

We live in a Toxic World and it is high time that we bioremediate our homes with non-toxic cleaners, non chemical pesticides, non toxic skin care, non toxic cooking utensils, microwaves which are destroying our food from the inside out and finally non toxic food which is changing the RNA of humanity. If we don’t get it that this is a lifestyle shift, we are going to destroy ourselves and our Globe in the process.

It is no wonder this is pandemic…the CDC better WAKE up soon.

  3. Great replies everyone, it’s astounding really how trusting we all were. I think sometime in the future folks are going to wake up to the great poisoning of America, this is why American’s lead in all these diseases, Cancer, Lupis, Crohn’s, ALS, MS, Morgellons, and so on … We have been slathering on, breathing in, eating, getting toxic fillings for generations and it’s coming home to roost.

  5. Hi Mr. CS,
On the topic of chemicals that don’t belong in our homes: I hesitate to use the azufre soap because I believe it lists “fragrance” in the ingredients. I thought this usually meant “pthalates”, and I’ve avoided those for years. Also it has cornstarch, and if corn aint organic you know its gmo. Also, we now have vinyl covers on two of our three mattresses and on all pillows. Until this business began, I would not allow vinyl in my home.
I have always been fairly organic, anti-plastic, etc. Then when this started, I freaked (who didn’t?) and became almost anti-nature for a short spell. Wanted to sterilize everything and coat it in plastic! Now I’m back to my old self, sort of, and I’m trying to figure out how to function. But I seriously don’t know what to do about the pets. If I fix my body (and I do seem to be improving), do I really need to get rid of the pets? The old me screams, “no!” I wonder if I am endangering my kids, or if they’ve got it already anyhow? Oh, the psychological burgen of this crap is huge, and yet I can’t share it with anyone in my life, so thanks for listening.
By the way, back when I was freaking, I ordered a silver product which we are now not using. The guy I spoke with on the phone was of the opinion that everyone already has “Morgellons”, they just don’t know it yet. I’m not sure what to make of this idea.
Also, Mr. CS I’d like to hear your further ideas on people who are carriers, etc. I would welcome your email.

  6. I’m in the camp of parasites as opposed to only toxins and this comes from my intuition, experience dealing with this, and most importantly, knowing how I came down with it. But I am open to either sides or a mix of both. As we have tossed around for some time here now, the idea that perhaps it starts from some parasitic vector, which creates toxin, certainly seems plausible.

You know, to all the doubting ppl out there, I would love to have this test done to the sufferers. Put the sufferer, without clothes, in a clean, small airtight chamber (let’s not worry about suffocation for now Leave the person in there for a few hours. Then take air sample and scrape the chamber for any parasites, arthropods, fungus, mold, toxins, whatever. Repeat this for other sufferers. I bet eventually, they will find SOMETHING if our conditions are really caused by external agents. The worst feeling is going to a doctor, spilling your heart and guts out only to be patronized or told “you have allergies”. Well, if we’re truly imagining there are bugs or whatever associated with this, this experiment should help prove or disprove, right? What we’re looking for with this exercise is PHYSICAL evidence to support the sufferers’ claims.

In all fairness, had I not come down with this, I wouldn’t have thought twice about DOP. It’s hard to empathize with morgellons sufferers. DOP unfortunately is a total misnomer. It’s a diagnosis of the symptom, not the cause b/c the cause is unknown, but based on this unknown, a bad (and totally unscientific) conclusion is made that the cause must be in the head. With a known disease like the flu, if your doctor gave you a diagnosis of the avian flu, well, we know what the cause is and based on the detection of H1-N1 virus from the person. Unfortunately, to our dismay, DOP, a diagnosis based on inconclusive evidence, is accepted as conclusive.

Side note: don’t we love using the word “vector”? I think the last time I used it so much was in my differential equations class back in college LOL.

IF WE ALL USED DARKFIELD MICROSCOPY ALL PARASITES CAN BE SEEN IDENTIFIED AND DEALT WITH!!!!

THERE ARE MANY DARKFIELD SPECIALISTS IN THE US. The problem is, western medicine does not recognize this procedure. Why? This procedure uses live blood samples and tells you everything you need to know about what is going on inside your blood/body. I believe most diseases could be reduced and c…ed. (we dare not say the c word, but rather we are forced to say, we have a treatment for… I wonder why that is???) Please everyone google darkfield microscopy and educate yourselves. Go see a darkfield specialist and begin from there.

    MC what do you think?

Sister to MC, what do you say?

  8. sistertocommonsense said:

I say go for it. Just Google Dark Field Microscopy and your state, You will find many.
I just read an article saying that EVERY ER should have Darkfield in them because they could use it in the event of a stroke (blood clumping and clotting) they could see the terrain so much better with a darkfield scope and treat accordingly.
The US Mainstream thinks it’s a bunch of “HOOEY” and Darkfield Doctors fear reprucussions from the FDA but I think the FDA needs to take a good look at the foods we are eating and what they are allowing to get approved in this country and get some of these dangerous DRUGS off of the Market.
Every Intern and Doctor should be trained on the Theories of Pasteur vs Beauchamp et al.
You can see more on Darkfield Microscopy regarding the terrain of the Human Body than you can see under a microscope.
It is that the AMA is concerned that maybe we will be able to treat chronic disease with herbals and dietary suppliments instead of drugs, that is threatening to the incorporation of Darkfield in Diagnosis of many Disease Syndromes????
    I think so.

    Australia Letter,

I am a 19 year old girl from Sydney, Australia and last year I started to feel a crawling sensation all over my body whilst at work, It was a stinging pricking sensation at the time I was drinking 2 litres of tap water a day, I went crazy instantly, I used ever single thing I could possibly use to get these black grit specks and fibres out of me, just tonight I think I have found a cure, I have been poisoned, I’m a vegan and i have a full time job as a receptionist, awhile ago whilst delving into the possibilities of scabies, mites, morgellons, etc, I came across an article regarding mercury poisoning, and that a high amount of mercury had leaked into Australians water system, i looked up the symptoms which where:
    3. Digestive tract problems

    4. Cardiovascular problems
Weak pulse, blood pressure changes, chest pain, or feeling of pressure in the chest area.

    5. Respiratory problems
Weakness and problems with breathing, Emphysema, Coughing persistently.

    6 Neurological Problems
Headaches, vertigo, tinnitus, shaking in various areas of the body (eye lids, feet etc)

I was positive my symptoms went towards this, but I ignored it because no fibre like symptoms had been reported, not until tonight I see many people suffering from the same thing, I’m so happy I have found this, I’ve told I could have lupus as I have the antibodies in my blood but they’re on the fence about it, so I’m told to take medication for it, I had the most beautiful skin before this horrible event, I’ve lost any social activity I had, I’m hiding from all my friends, I’m sorry if this email is a bit strung out, I’m just overwhelmed I feel as if I might’ve cracked the code. this is one of my only hopes, I’m really really depending on a way to get this out of me, although I have no silver fillings, I work in a moist almost mouldy old office, I just resigned due to this infection, I have become so self conscious, thinking I cant go near the staff members, I have noticed that some of them like me, constantly have a conjunctivus like infection in there eyes, brown spots around face, these are the ones with poorer diets, compromised immunes, although i could be imagining things…
    My symptoms include:
constant blocked nose, red blood shot eyes, black grit coming out of pores, black fibres coming out of pores, hair loss, fatigue, open sore’s on cheeks (almost like acne), red inflamed scalp, stomach cramps (just started 3 months ago), candida, brain fog, hunger pains, gas, bloating, teeth staining, tingling and twitching of muscles, fatigue and more.

I’ve had doctors laugh at me, ask if I was on drugs when this happened, tell me to get scabies treatment, tell me I’m emotionally distressed and paranoid and prescribe me meds for lupus.

I will not give up for as long as I survive this thing without a fight

    also
I’m not going manic ripping at my skin like most people do, I’m just going crazy on the inside.
Thankyou very much, I hope you can reply to me

    To the Girl From Sydney,

I read your post last night and while you don’t have amalgam filling…I wanted to ask if you use any skin creams (especially those designed to lighten skin), live within range of any coal burning power plants, or are in an area where historic mining activities took place (all of these possibilities could increase mercury levels in the body)? I’m of the opinion there is a mercury connection to these symptoms. It’s horrible to have this condition and the insensitivity of many medical professionals is unacceptable (I’m sorry to hear what you’ve gone through). I hope you can connect to some of us through Mr. CS. Take care and keep in mind you are not alone- Joe
